Update. Word Style.

I haven't blogged forever! Here are some updates!

Terrell
He says "oooooooh things are going good" when I ask him what to put for his update. What a typical guy answer! He's been able to bike more which is great - he loves things with 2 wheels! He just hung his bikes up on the wall in our bedroom so they were "out of the way". I like it better than them taking up room on the floor! ;-) Terrell went on his motorcycle trip with his club last month down to Hurricane and the Grand Canyon. He came home sunburnt and had a blast! It was fun he got to go down and site see and hang out with his Brothers. He also recently joined my It Works team and we're workin' hard to get him his $10,000 Bonus!

Kellie
Motherhood. Wifey. It Works. That's been my life! :-) Motherhood has been a struggle the past few weeks but Lexi has had some good days lately so that is steadily improving. I need to make sure I'm doing my scripture study and prayers and life is easier! It's nice to have Terrell home a little more but I've been spoiled...he leaves for Seattle in a week! It Works has been fabulous! Helped so much with income, and my own self. I was able to move up 2 ranks in June and am hoping to move up another rank by the end of the month. It's been fun to have a "job" where I get to help people get healthy and be helped financially if they choose. We've been blessed so far and can't wait to see what the future brings there.

Lexi
I cannot believe what a little girl she is turning into! Miss 3.5 year old princess will talk your ear off! She has an incredible memory and can understand a lot! (Makes me have the need to be more aware of what I She loves singing, princesses, barbies, being outside, her friends, unicorns, penguins, doggies, and fruit snacks. Her surgery is officially scheduled for November 4, 2013. They pushed it back a few weeks which I guess isn't really that big of a deal! She hasn't been able to get her treatment or therapy due to her dumb insurance situation (loooong story!) so she's really starting to tighten up on her right side. Lexi went to her first fireworks ever last week! It is a hard thing for her because of her sensory issues, but we practiced a lot, meaning watching from VERY far away on the 4th of July, inside, then watching far away outside, etc. She did great - had a hard time, but overall did fabulous! She needed to be snuggled and held tight and hr ears covered, but she peeked at the fireworks! YAY! This may sound small, but it was a big deal! We haven't ever been able to go see fireworks because of her sensory issues and seizures!

Rosie
Rosie is almost ONE. Goodness. She's a cute dog and, as always, good when she wants to be. She likes to shove her head underneath your arm or leg when you are on the couch. Snuggles?! When you say "Good girl, Rose or Good dog, Rosie" she runs and gets her rope. Stinker...she just loves attention. Too much.

Family
We had to say goodbye to our van! Too much money was being put into it to keep it running and we just couldn't keep forking out what it needed - too much needed work! :-( We now have a new vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Murano. We like it; it drives smooth, and is real comfy. We recently went to Iowa and it was nice to ride in! We weren't going to be able to go anywhere or really do much in July due to Lexi's treatment, so we drove out to Iowa so we could have a little vacation (Terrell and Lexi, anyways....I worked It Works the whole time!). We got to go to the Zoo with the Frederick side of the family last month and had a blast!

Opeartion: Surprise Terrell for his birthday

Mission: Finally surprise Terrell with something for a holiday (specifically, his birthday)

Plan of Attack: Message all the TKMC via facebook asking if they would come rollin' in to take him on a surprise ride, ending at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lehi.

United Angels Foundation - Walk with Angels 2013

 We were able to attend the "Walk with Angels" event today to help support Lexi, other children with special needs, and the parents and families of the United Angels Foundation. We are so grateful to be a part of this great foundation...they provide such fun and uplifting things for the kids! At the walk, they had super heroes, Cosmo the Cougar, Willy the Wolverine, bounce houses, inflatable slides, carnival games, sno-cones, cotton candy, music, dancing, friends, food, Signing Time, the Walk, and more! We had a great time and Lexi loved it! She struggled walking today, and crawled a lot. Poor kid! She got pooped during the walk (around a block...so cute) and gave up! My great friend from college, Briana, joined us for a great cause, as well as Leslie (a friend from Cali) as an honory walker (she contributed to Lexi's team fund).  We also ran into Lexi's old therapist Angela! Fun for everyone and for a GREAT cause! We're hoping to get more people on our "Laugh with Lexi" team next year!

Lexi can't run like the other kids, but she runs cuter than anyone I know!

She pumps those arms as best she can, though her Right arm pretty much stays to her body.

Her little legs go a flyin' and that girl SOARS!

I cheer for her as she runs.

It sometimes breaks my heart when I watch.

Foster Dog - Daisy

Rescue Rovers Adoptions (RRA) is a new dog-rescue organization which rescues from high-kill shelters. Last week, they posted at least 100 dogs that needed a foster home or would be killed. Litters of puppies, mommas, and a few 2-3 year old dogs. The kill shelter was in New Mexico, and the RRA were rescuing any dog/puppy that had a foster home commitment. We decided to offer our place as a foster home for a dog. We offered on some puppies (2 MAX) but they wouldn't let us; for some reason they said the whole litter had to stay together. We didn't understand that whole deal since the puppies were 8 weeks old, but oh well. Finally they asked us if we could take a 2 year old shepherd mix.

Anyways, we drove up to Sandy on Saturday night to pick her up. We knew she was from a shelter but what we did not expect was a VERY skinny, unhealthy, tick covered, scared dog! It was one of the saddest things ever! Terrell and the rescue pulled at least 20-30 ticks from her body, gave her 3 syringes of dewormer meds and then gave us some tick medicine for her. It was SO sad! She was so skinny, her ribs were protruding out of her body! She was sweet though, and took to us really quickly. Poor thing.

We brought her home, gave her some food, and gave her a bath.

The bath took both Terrell and myself about an hour to try and get her clean. We found another 15 ticks while bathing her, and the water was filthy filthy filthy! She still reeked of the streets/kill shelter, and was shedding like crazy. This poor dog! She was scheduled to die on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

We decided to name her Daisy. Goes along well with the name Rosie, don't you think? Daisy listened so well and just loved Lexi to pieces. What a sweetheart! She was very much a people dog!

Anyways, we decided to let Rosie & Daisy meet while Daisy was in her kennel. The result was NOT good. Daisy's lips snarled and growled, teeth bared, and barked. 

My momma-bear instincts took over. Grabbed Lexi on the bed, pulled Rosie back and was like we are sooo not doing this. Terrell said to give her a minute. Didn't work! We had to keep them separate the whole time.  One in kennel, one out, and alternating.

Yesterday, Daisy snapped with teeth, jaws, and bite at Rosie. I screamed. Definitely one of the scariest things I've ever seen! Luckily Daisy responds very well to Terrell. Daisy snapped again a few hours later. We messaged the RRA right away. Daisy had to go!

It's so interesting because Daisy is such a sweetie with people, even Lexi! She would run over when Lexi fell down and try to help her up! But with other dogs?? No way! This morning, Daisy snared, bared teeth, and snapped at the other dogs in the neighborhood too! We definitely know that Daisy needs a single dog home!

The rescue asked us to take some new pictures of Daisy to help her get adopted. Here are what we came up with! They turned out pretty cute!
