(Cool Dude)

Lexi got a little "bike" for the summertime. She loves it. She also got a baseball hat to wear out in the sun. She put her hat on like this all by herself and climbed on her bike!

TKL Update

Terrell
Terrell is extremely ready to be done with school! He has about a month left and he is done, which is so exciting! He has an interview with the Ogden YMCA in a few weeks for a job (so cross your fingers)! It's crazy that we will hopefully be out into the 'real world' soon. Terrell continues to work with BYU Police and recently got a promotion to a FTO (field training officer), which basically means that he is in charge of training all new security officers. Go Terrell! Terrell recently found (and purchased) his new form of transportation and he is SO excited about. It will be great (not to mention necessary) for him to have his own way to get around instead of leaving us without a vehicle all the time. Especially once we move and he has to drive/commute. Ask him for details...he'll gladly spill! :)

Kellie
I still do the same old, same old! I'm working really hard to be more financially responsible and knowledge and let's just say that finances are hard! I'm going to start scrapbooking a lot again - I miss it and it's therapeutic abilities. I have been doing a lot of research on apartments up and down I-15 here in Utah to find good ones that fit into our budget. We've looked at a few, but none that we feel at home with. As soon as we hear back from Terrell's interview with the YMCA, I'll start looking north of SLC! I am also trying to be more of a 'fun' mom and trying to do activities with Lexi - at home and otherwise. We will be started parent-child swimming lessons in June and still continue to do gymnastics together. Lexi and I have been outside almost every day the past week or so. I'm also reading, and watching lots of Netflix. Oh, and cleaning and cooking too! ;)  I haven't done very well at my 'i am a loser' goal (aka, lose weight and get into shape) lately, but...hopefully I can get back at it.

Lexi
Lexi has had a rough week! She's been to the doctor 4 times in the past 5 days. Talk about living at the doctor's office! Wednesday morning we had a little check up and also a blood test; later that day we were back because of Lexi's concussion (see previous post). On Friday, I took Lexi to the doctor due to a major cough, and today we went BACK to the doctor to see about the cough because it is NOT getting better and interfering with eating and sleeping too. The doctor said it's possible she has RSV and a bronchial infection. :( On the bright side of things, Lexi's gymnastics class got to go to the BYU vs Utah gymnastics meet on Friday night. Lexi loved it! We only got to stay for about 45 min though, because Lexi was so sick. Lexi is also getting better at walking. She is really good at doing her 'jobs' around the house to earn stickers and then a little prize - she also likes to 'clean' with washrags. Her favorite thing to do though is to play with her Little People and put things on her head and around her neck to play dress up. She is now about 13 months!

Us
We're ready to leave Provo. (I feel like I say that every post...oops!) We recently got to go to Disney on Ice which was fun for all of us - especially our little dancin' girl! We're about to quit our pop drinking habit cold turkey (yikes) to save some mula and to help us be more healthy (yikes). We just got called to be a Sunday School class presidents for the A-N class at church. We will hopefully be getting new family pictures taken soon, as well as Lexi's one year old pictures. Lexi and I will be going to Iowa on April 6 for about a week, which will be AWESOME. Hopefully Terrell won't forget about us....just kidding! We are loving the good weather Utah has been having, and cannot wait until SuMmEr rolls around so we can be outside, have warm weather, go swimming, and ride some bikes!

Thanks for readin' up!

BoNk!

Today Lexi got a concussion. Yeah, a concussion. Yikes.

Here's what happened:

I was checking my email and such and Lexi got on her saucer chair - backwards. She was rocking back and forth and fell backwards and smacked her head real hard on the table leg.
Of course I felt like an awful mother because I didn't see her playing on her chair backwards but I just thought it was another little bonk. A bonk for Lexi is always scary because of her brain, but they are always just fine.
This time however, she would only cry and snuggle, so I decided to just sit in the rocker to calm her down. She pointed to her bottle that was sitting on her dresser, so I decided to give her a little bit. She didn't drink much, and was still upset so I reached for the Tylenol. As soon as I reached for it, Lexi threw up allllllllll over her room - she covered her, me, the chair, the footrest and the floor.
Definitely an indication of a concussion.
So, I called Terrell and told him to come home, and then called up my wonderful friend Jaycee to come hold Lexi while I starting the clean-up process. (thanks Jayc!)
When Terrell got home we took her to the doctor. Luckily her pediatrican was still there from this morning (we had a check up) and so she got seen right away. Lexi checked out okay which was relieving because we were worried about her brain! She just got a concussion and we have had to watch her real careful to see if she'd have any seizures, more vomiting, etc. She had to stay up for another 4 hours (she'd already been up for 4!!!!) to make sure she retained conciousness, but she HAD to take a nap after waiting 2 hours, so I just woke her up every 30 min to make sure she was doing okay.

Oh, Lexi. One year old and already had a concussion. Too bad she knows how to take her helmet off! :(

I decided to start doing a Pound for Pound Challenge through The Biggest Loser.
The Biggest Loser will donate 11 cents for ever pound pledged to the Utah Food Bank.

Under 'Teams' on http://wwww.pfpchallenge.com search Evans Crew. Join the team (you don't have to be an Evans) and pledge those pounds.

I have pledged 20 lbs so far.

Rex Lee 5k - 2011

Today, Lexi and I ran our first 5k - the Rex Lee Run. It was a really great day for a race.
At the beginning, the people were dumb and set of 'George Q' RIGHT by the starting line - and didn't even tell us when they were planning on starting. AKA the cannon shot scared Lexi to death and she was screamin' and screamin'. And screaming. And screaming. Did I mention she was screaming? Yeah, the WHOLE race. This was so frustrating for me because I kept having to stop to calm her down as she would start hyperventalating. Sometimes I even had to carry her and just walk. I was hoping to run a lot more than I was able to, but my little stinker wouldn't allow that.
We finished at 00:50:34. Yikes. Hopefully, next race I can actually run it more and not have to stop to calm a crazy baby down!

Before the race began

Here is what Lexi looked like at a good moment during the race:

I saw some old friends from a previous ward: Kristin and Becky!

I am totally doing another 5k.

Hi, I'm Lexi, and I am ONE!

I weigh about 16.5 lbs
I am almost 28 inches tall
I have a lot of hair and am really good about getting my hair fixed!
I love to put on necklaces, jackets, clothes, and ANYTHING I can lift over my head (including the kitchen rug!)
My favorite words to say are "see it" "what's that" "who's that" "lizard" and random babbling.
I am really good at doing somersaults and I love to go to gymnastics!
My favorite toys are my Fisher Price People, my Cabbage Patch, and my Dora and Boots dolls.
I walk on my knees, even though I CAN walk on my feet sometimes.
The mirror is still my favorite - I like to check myself out!
I don't let my mommy help me eat dinner - I like to do it all by myself.
I can pet my lizard without any help from Mommy and Daddy! (sometimes)
Dancing ROCKS!
I love Dora and Boots. I play with them all the time. I even have a Backpack and Map!
I go back and forth on how well I use my right hand. I don't like when I have to do my stretches.
I love baths. Eating the bubbles and drinking the bathwater is my favorite!
I could eat Macaroni and Cheese all day, every day for the rest of my life. It's the cheesiest. MMmmm!

I'm Lexi, and I'm ONE!

Run for Red 2011

This morning, Lexi and I participated in the Run for Red 2011 race. (American Red Cross)
We only did the 1-mile walk/run because we have a 5k next week. :)
Lexi and I were going to actually run the 1-mile because it's only 1 mile, but the tires on her stroller were way too flat and would not pump up for the life of me, so we had to walk it for safety reasons. We tried to 'power walk', at least!
Lexi was soooo tired. It was right around her naptime, so she was just chillin in her stroller, looking exhausted the moment we got there! Silly girl. :)

New FHE Chart

Not gunna lie, folks. I'm proud of this. I think it's ultra-cute.
The people are velcro-ed on the back, so we can rotate.
Made with wood, scrapbook paper, stickers, and mod-podge.

MY Opinion Post

I love opinion posts. They rock. I love reading the comments from everyone and hearing everyone's opinions. I hope you guys don't mind that I do this often!

Here are my own opinions on my last opinion post:

1. Sign language for baby: I'm back and forth on this one. I think that it is helpful for children and parents, but you shouldn't overload your baby with signs. I think its best to wait until they can somewhat talk/understand things for themselves. We are going to be starting just a few signs with Lexi to help her develop the right side of her body. We'll see how it goes. I am probably not going to be doing signs for everything - just the basics and/or important signs. I also think it depends on your child; for some it does hinder speech development and for some it enhances - depends on your child.

2. Job charts: I'm a big believer in teaching your kids to help out even when they're young! Lexi has a simple chore chart that includes things like: clean room (along with a picture of a crib and toys), dirty clothes (picture of a shirt that's 'stinky'), pick up toys (picture of toys), and brush teeth (picture of toothbrush). Lexi gets to put a sticker on every time she helps mommy with those jobs. When she gets 5 stickers on each job, than she gets a prize out of her prize box! She is a GREAT helper and knows how to put away her toys with mommy's help, and where her dirty clothes go. I don't MAKE her do the jobs everyday, but she does like to do them when we remember. She has a job chart above her play mirror. I will make a new "list" when she gets all 5 stickers on all 5 jobs. She LOVES it. And I'm not making her a slave....not at all! Just teaching her basic skills. She thinks it's fun to help Mommy!

3. Best activity: Lexi loves baths. And books. And helping Mommy. And DANCING. We do all of these things every single day if we can. Especially the dancing....it's nonstop! Lexi also loves playing with her Little People and Little People bus that she got for her birthday. And of course, don't forget the mirror - FAVORITE!

4. Favorite food: Cheese. Lexi could eat cheese all day long if I'd let her. She also likes baby cheetos, cherrios, and Mac 'n Cheese. :)

5. Pets for baby: I am not a huge animal person but I think pets are a great idea - especially ones like fish, or lizards (like ours). Lexi loves loves loves animals and enjoys going to PetSmart. She loves our lizard, Axe, and even knows how to say lizard. It has taught her how to be more gentle - she can now pet him without help! She also loves fish. I think every kid needs at least a goldfish or something. It teaches them responsibility and provides great stimulation for their eye and imaginative development!
